FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Product

What's included with my eSIM?

Mobile data for Mongolia, delivered by email, plus the 30-day Trip Assistant — practical local guidance for getting around, staying connected, and staying safe. It's included with every plan, whichever one you choose.

What's the difference between Standard and Daily plans?

Standard plans give you one set amount of data to use throughout your plan. For example, 5GB for 30 days. They offer better value per GB and are a good choice if you know roughly how much data you'll need.

Daily plans give you a fresh amount of data every 24 hours. For example, 1GB every day for 7 days. They're ideal if you want a reliable amount of data available each day.

In short: Choose Standard for better value and flexible usage. Choose Daily when you want fresh data every day.

Both include the same 30-day Trip Assistant.

What is the Mongolia Trip Assistant?

Practical, bite-sized guidance included with every eSIM for 30 days — quick answers for common situations while you're traveling, from getting connected and getting around to handling money, local customs, and staying safe.

Built for on-the-go use, so you can find what you need in seconds instead of digging through a long travel guide.

Do I have to sign up or download an app to buy and use it?

No, not at all. Pick a plan, complete checkout, and install from the delivery email — no account, no app.

Buying

I need several eSIMs for a group or family trip.

Yes — one checkout covers up to 10 identical eSIMs on the same plan (Daily plans apply the same day count to all of them). Need a different plan, a different number of days, or more than 10 in total? Just place another checkout.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and more), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — plus Korean cards and wallets, WeChat Pay, and more local payment options depending on your region.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes — Daily plans automatically apply a discount for longer trips, up to 12%, right at checkout. No code needed.

During your trip

Does coverage reach the whole country?

Ulaanbaatar, Erdenet, and Darkhan have strong coverage, and aimag (provincial) centers are strong too. Our eSIMs run on Mongolia's largest mobile network, but remote countryside coverage still varies — some areas are well covered, while others have limited or no signal simply because of how vast and sparsely populated Mongolia is. See our mobile coverage guide for details and what to do if you lose signal.

It's not connecting right after I arrive — what do I do?

This is usually caused by one of three things: your Mongolia eSIM line is turned off, it isn't selected for Cellular (or Mobile) Data, or Data Roaming is off for the eSIM. First, make sure the Mongolia eSIM line is turned on, then select it for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming — see the exact steps for your phone.

Already done all three? Give it a minute or two. Still nothing? Turn Airplane Mode on for about 10 seconds, then turn it off again. This forces your phone to re-register with the network.

How do I check my data usage and validity?

Open the "Check your usage" link in your delivery email — no account or login needed. It shows how much data you've used and how much validity you have left.

If you're using the Trip Assistant, tap the Check your usage link in the top row.

You can also check your phone’s built-in mobile data usage in Settings, although the menu and usage information vary by phone and OS.

Payments & refunds

What if my payment fails or I close the checkout?

Nothing is charged and no plan is created — just try again whenever you're ready.

Can I get a refund if I haven't installed my eSIM?

Yes. If your eSIM has not been installed, you can request a full refund — no specific reason is required.

Please check your phone's eSIM compatibility before purchasing.

Email support@esimmongolia.io with the order reference found in your delivery email, and we'll take it from there. Refunds are processed through our payment provider.

I haven't received my eSIM email. What should I do?

First, check your spam or junk folder, as well as Gmail's Promotions, Updates, and Social tabs, Outlook's Other folder, and Apple Mail's filtered messages.

Still nothing? Your order may still be finishing setup. It's also possible that the email address entered at checkout had a typo.

If you still can't find it after 15 minutes, email support@esimmongolia.io with your payment confirmation and we'll help you sort it out. There's no need to buy a second eSIM.
